Notes and observations from the experts…

The NFL Minute

Baltimore over Arizona — It’s a closer matchup than you might think, though the Baltimore defense is probably a little too much for Leinart and Co. at this point. Expect a decent game from Edge (70-80 yards), but a win to go to Baltimore.

Chicago over Dallas — Dallas has been burned by the passing game each of the past two weeks. Expect Grossman to have a good game while Chicago (at home) plays a solid game defensively and slows the Tony Romo passing attack enough to keep Dallas trailing.

St. Louis over Tampa Bay — St Louis will look for it’s first win of the season on the road this weekend against Tampa. The Rams have only allowed 149 passing yards per game on the year while the Bucs have played bend but not break defense allowing a combined 343 ypg. The Rams will get the running game going this week as Jackson returns to form, boosting the Rams to an upset victory on the road. Rams 31 Bucs 16

New Orleans over Tennessee — The Titans are but a play away from being 2-0 on the season. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Saints have showed zero consistency on offense as the line has been eaten up by opposing defenders. Monday Night Football home opener spells a big win for the Saints as Payton will return to the running game with Deuce, not Bush, and get the Saints back on track before the season spirals away. Saints 27 Titans 17

New York Giants over Washington — The Giants are desperate. The Skins are content. Mix the two and you have another NFL upset. Giants LB Pierce was very verbal regarding the defensive play of the Giants and they will respond against a team that struggles to throw the football. The Giants will stack the line of scrimmage and make Campbell be the one to beat them. He won’t do it as Eli and Co. get a big time win in a suprisingly low scoring game to lessen the fire under Coughlin’s seat. Giants 19 Redskins 13

Pittsburgh over San Francisco — So far, San Fran has struggled against lesser defenses. How good could they be against a solid Pitt defense?

Philadelphia over Detroit — 0-3 in Phili just doesn’t look right. Either does 3-0 in Detroit. How’s that for insight? LOL

Baltimore over Arizona — I think it will be much closer than the 9 points Baltimore is getting in Vegas. The Arizona defense is playing better than you think and the coaching staff is very familiar.

Tennessee over New Orleans — Hard to pick the Saints to go 0-3 but Tennessee is tough.

Seattle over Cincinnati - Shaun Alexander looks like he’s fully healthy and an elite running back once again. The Bengals are coming off an embarrassing loss with the Browns dropping half-of-a-hundred points on them. Also, Seattle has an NFC-best 27-6 record at home since 2003. I’m going with the Seahawks.

Chicago over Dallas - Tony Romo, TO, and company will find out just how powerful their offensive unit is when they go up against the Chicago Bears. LT and Larry Johnson combined for only 80 rushing yards against the Bears, so the pressure will be thrust upon the passing attack and Tony Romo. In the end, I think the Bears D and Cedric Benson will be the keys to a Chicago victory.

Tennessee over New Orleans - The Saints have given up 72 points over the first two weeks. The Titans are 1-1 with a narrow loss to the Colts. Here’s two teams heading in the opposite direction and I’m going with the team on the way up. The Titans are going to rush the ball all night long to overpower the weak Saints defense.

Pittsburgh over San Francisco – Pittsburgh has too many weapons and San Francisco is not ready to face a team of this caliber on the road.

Dallas over Chicago — I don’t think Chicago will move the ball effectively enough to win this game.

Tennessee over New Orleans — If I’m not mistaken, this is Vince Young’s first Monday Night Football game. And Tennessee might be the most underrated defense in the NFL. Fisher will find a way to get it done against a struggling New Orleans team.
