What does 49ers Frank Gore’s broken hand mean for your fantasy team?

Frank Gore is (or was?) a top 5 back; is he now?

If you don’t already know, Frank Gore broke his hand in practice Monday — the team’s first padded practice — and he could miss all four of the team’s preseason games, not necessarily due to injury.

Reports say that Gore could potentially be healthy enough to participate in games by the third or fourth preseason game, but head coach Mike Nolan isn’t so sure Gore will play in either game for obvious reasons.

“We’ll wait and see,” Nolan said. “It’s a little too early to tell on that. At the same time, we expect him back, but we’re not going to do anything with him for the rest of the week. Next week, we’ll re-evaluate him and hope to get him out on the field, but he’ll probably have a cast on him.”

Top 10 Undervalued Fantasy Picks (Sleepers)

Fred Taylor is one of the ten, but who are the others? Read on.

Some players who break out are passed over each year. Maybe it’s because owners aren’t informed that the player just received the starting spot or maybe they anticipate the player to be average. Whatever the reason, you can look like a fantasy god if you find the right pick at the right time.

Below is a top 10 of the players I believe are currently undervalued by most fantasy publications/owners for one reason or another.

10. Donovan McNabb — McNabb is one of the most dominant fantasy quarterbacks when he’s healthy. But everyone is bracing for him to experience yet another injury. Good news for you because if he isn’t he’ll put up 250+ yards and 2 touchdowns every game he suits up in 2007.

Who will be the next big surprise in 2007?

Thanks to some new faces, the Saints were 2006's big surprise

Every year one team comes from out of nowhere to shock NFL fans. They weren’t necessarily predicted to do well before the season. In most cases, in fact, those who do predict a team’s unprecedented success are chastised by “wiser” fans who think it impossible.

This year will be no different. We will see a team rise from the grave and shock us. They might not win the Super Bowl, but they will make the playoffs and potentially a serious run at the Lombardi trophy. It was the Saints last year and the Bears in 2005.

Who will it be in 2007? My top three picks are below:

Who should fantasy owners draft number two overall?

Should fantasy owners draft Jackson number two?

By now the national consensus is that running back LaDainian Tomlinson is the best overall fantasy football player. And why not assume that? After a record breaking season in 2006, Tomlinson remains in the prime of his career. But it’s time owners look to number two overall and consider the available options.

Quick Reference: Stingiest fantasy football defenses — Quarterbacks

Rex Grossman felt pressure from defenses last season

NFL defenses do not willfully give up yards. Ever. Fortunately, some defenses are worse than others, which is why teams can sometimes score at will.

As a fantasy owner, you should have a pretty good idea of which defenses are the weakest and which are the most overwhelming. The following is a list of all 32 defenses, in order of strength.
