Cleveland in the Postseason Picture?

Before the season we didn’t how long it would take before the Browns threw in the towel and declared Brady Quinn the team’s starter. Now we can legitimately question the odds they make the playoffs, thanks to some great offense.

Derek Anderson? Who saw this coming? He couldn’t even beat Charlie Frye out for the starting job before the start of the season and now he’s a big reason the team sits at 5-3 right now, one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers and one game ahead of the Baltimore Ravens. He has a 91.7 quarterback rating and he’s why the Browns have one of the NFL’s most prolific offenses, putting up more than 28 points per game, most of which through the air.

Quinn may start Sunday

Update: Derek Anderson has been named the starter of Sunday’s game.

Though head coach Romeo Crennel is keeping mum on the Browns’ (0-1) quarterback situation, there’s a good chance rookie Brady Quinn will start Sunday. After some news of a trade that sent Charlie Frye to the Seahawks, Quinn immediately gets bumped up the roster to at least number two. Whether Crennel will choose to start Derek Anderson instead remains to be seen. Both Anderson and Frye were the two preseason contenders, but after some good showings from Quinn and a miserable performance from Anderson, it’s anyone’s guess what will happen.

“There are no personnel changes we will talk about,’’ the Browns’ head coach said in his Monday-after press conference.

Who’s Cleveland’s starting quarterback tonight? It’s 50-50. Literally.

Charlie Frye

In a bit of coaching genius (or eccentricity), Romeo Crennel has decided to start the winner or a coin toss at quarterback in tonight’s game.

“I think that’s the fairest way because no one knows who’s going to start ahead of time,” said Crennel. “They’ll both play the first half and alternate with the first team.”

A decent plan, for sure. A little bizarre perhaps, but I think I understand the concept: don’t tell either player — Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson — who is going to start (and make it completely random) so that each prepares for the game as if he’s going to start with the first team offense.

Top 10 Undervalued Fantasy Picks (Sleepers)

Fred Taylor is one of the ten, but who are the others? Read on.

Some players who break out are passed over each year. Maybe it’s because owners aren’t informed that the player just received the starting spot or maybe they anticipate the player to be average. Whatever the reason, you can look like a fantasy god if you find the right pick at the right time.

Below is a top 10 of the players I believe are currently undervalued by most fantasy publications/owners for one reason or another.

10. Donovan McNabb — McNabb is one of the most dominant fantasy quarterbacks when he’s healthy. But everyone is bracing for him to experience yet another injury. Good news for you because if he isn’t he’ll put up 250+ yards and 2 touchdowns every game he suits up in 2007.

Browns to cut Andruzzi

The Cleveland Browns are to release lineman Joe Andruzzi today, according to a report. Andruzzi has been the team’s starting guard since he joined the team in 2004. Coach Romeo Crennel could appreciate his work ethic and attitude and no doubt he will be missed.
