Cardinals Interested in Carr

by Tom Van Wyhe on March 3, 2010

According to a tweet by theĀ Arizona Republic’s Kent Somers, the Arizona Cardinals are looking into signing David Carr as a backup quarterback. Said Somers with 140 or so characters, “Cards have interest in signing QB David Carr, according to NFL sources. Carr will hit FA market Thursday night.”

The idea of the Cardinals having a bust at quarterback to pair with Matt Leinart, another disappointment, doesn’t sound particularly appealing at first glance. Granted, Carr can act as a sort of mentor to Leinart, telling of his own experience as a highly touted quarterback who never hit his expected potential, but why not invest in a more capable backup? Or, perhaps better yet, someone who will give Leinart a run for his money to encourage some competition.
