Bulger has “No Presence”

by Tom Van Wyhe on March 3, 2010

With speculation regarding the Rams number one pick running rampant, there’s one guy in St. Louis who believes Marc Bulger has played his last snap with the franchise. D’Marco Farr, a former Rams player and the team’s current radio analyst, argued that Bulger is loaded with talent but not charisma.

“Now there’s a guy with all the talent in the world in my opinion,” Farr said, as transcribed by USA Today: The Huddle.  “Has the same brain as Kurt Warner; they were trained under the same guy in Mike Martz. But absolutely no charisma. I mean the quarterback position is the guy everyone on the team wants to be. I don’t think anyone wants to be Marc Bulger, so they’re gonna need a new quarterback coming into 2010, either through free agency or through the draft.”

That’s downright harsh, but it may be the truth. Farr knows the organization and has roots in it. If there’s a media opinion to trust concerning the situation, it’s probably his.

As far as draft implications are concerned, Farr argued the team is best off pursuing a quarterback in free agency. But if St. Louis goes with someone like Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy, don’t be surprised if the Rams go with a quarterback oozing with charisma and presence: Tim Tebow. His passing skills are raw, but St. Louis can snag him in the second round and make him the face of the franchise. It would certainly renew league interest in the Rams, which as of late have been the laughing stock of the NFL.
