Quinn’s “Cheap Shot” Earns Fine

by Tom Van Wyhe on November 18, 2009

Browns Quarterback Brady Quinn was fined by the NFL today for his low hit on Ravens defender Terrell Suggs. Quinn’s illegal hit resulted in a knee sprain for Suggs and brought a hailstorm of comments and criticisms.

“I can see why they’d be upset,” Quinn said today. “But again, he wasn’t even in my vision. I was trying to get to the ball. He cut across my face as I was already try to jump down for the tackle.”

Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis was upset after seeing his teammate take the hit and is quoted as saying today, “I understand what Brady Quinn is saying after the fact, but … To lose a person like that (Suggs), there’s no dollar amount on that. There is no dollar amount on losing a T-Sizzle because he’s somebody when I need I can look to and say I need you right. …  To lose a man in a play that’s not within the rules of the game, that hurts.”

Quinn did not disclose the value of his fine but admitted it was “a good amount.”
