According to reports today, the Cleveland Browns have suspended starting tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. for one game without pay. Winslow has apparently been suspended for critical comments he made after the team’s loss at Washington on Sunday. He will not be allowed at practice and will not be allowed to return to the team’s facilities until Monday, according to the report.
Winslow said after the loss that he “felt like a piece of meat” and was disappointed that general manager Phil Savage did not visit him in the hospital last week when he was being treated for a staph infection. He went on to say that he considered requesting a trade.
“His statements brought unjustified negative attention to our organization, and violated the team-first concept of our football squad,” Savage said.
Winslow’s actions will cost him approximately $235 thousand.
