According to recent reports, the Denver Broncos have lost both linebacker Boss Bailey (knee) and cornerback Champ Bailey (groin), the former for the remainder of the season and the latter for 4-6 weeks. The two losses came during the Broncos blowout defeat against the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel torched the Broncos with three touchdown passes, and the Patriots running game, led by Sammy Morris’s 136 rushing yards, added another two scores.
Champ Baily and Boss Bailey are brothers, and both play a relatively large role in Denver’s defense, especially Champ who is regarded around the league as one of the game’s premier corners. The Broncos have lost three of their last four games and sit at 4-3, though the team still leads the hapless AFC West. Still, the losses couldn’t have come at a worser time, especially as the offense continues to struggle with the concept of scoring.

you cant say Cassell “torched” the broncos when it was bad/good coaching on Bills part. Sure he has an unproven QB that will have to play in the postseason if they make it and he needs experience so go out and play him. But when ur down 28 or so, defenses arnt playing all their starters and they lose the will to win. Losing Champ is a huge loss but Boss is also a big loss. Since moving from Detroit he has done very well here and now he has to be replaced with jaimie winborn most likeley and defenses will be able to attack.
The bigger concern should be Cutlers hand, if hes really healthy, the Broncos may be able to make it through the year and still put a good record up
Cassel’s three touchdown passes were thrown by the end of the third quarter. If Denver’s defense loses the will to win after a bad half, the team deserves the loss. In any case, Cassel passed the ball effectively and Denver failed to put forth an answer; his winning Offensive Player of the Week reflects that, too.
