Rumor Mill: Tuna in Dolphins future plans?
Here’s a rumor, one with no foundation whatsoever — other than the fact it makes some sense: Bill Parcells could be in Miami’s plans for the future. Not as a head coach, however; rather as the team’s GM.
“It makes a lot of sense that the Dolphins would be a job he’d be very interested in if it came open,” a source close to Parcells said Friday. “But only as the GM. I don’t think he’ll ever coach again.”
At least one person thinks it’s logical.
Honestly, I’d rather see Tuna pacing the sideline, though he might make for a good enough general manager. His intensity is certainly surpassed by no one. And the Dolphins are looking for something to spark the team … maybe it’s not so crazy. Owner Wayne Huizenga likes to make moves that make headlines. He likes big names in charge. And no doubt signing Parcells up as the front office’s hotshot would be a front page story for just about every significant sports publication in the US.
Here’s the thing: does Parcells want to do it? I know the source says so, but honestly. At 65, shouldn’t he be considering long-term retirement from pro football?
I guess anything is worth speculation. After all, Parcells makes decisions that are just plain unpredictable. He’ll do whatever he decides at the moment he decides it.
Definitely keeping tabs on this rumor, though it comes with a disclaimer: it’s purely speculative.
