Bulger Toss

It seems the Rams coaching staff realized that Gus Frerotte isn’t the cure to what ails the offense. His six turnover performance (5 of which were interceptions) reminded fans that he’s one of the worst backup quarterbacks in the NFL. In his defense the Rams (0-6) are one of the worst teams in the NFL right now, competing with Miami and Cincinnati for that title.

So in his stead Marc Bulger will return to the offense. He’s missed the past couple weeks with a pair of broken ribs.

“Yeah, I’m playing,” Bulger said. “I’m ready now after standing around for two weeks. They definitely feel a little better, but I haven’t been hit.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that Bulger is going to return a lot to the still battered and bruised St. Louis offense. He’s a good quarterback, granted, but the Rams offensive line has been porous this season and without Steven Jackson — it’s still unlikely he’ll be ready for week 7 — the offense isn’t capable of putting up serious points. That’s evident by the fact they’ve scored more than 16 points only once this season and in three of their games they’ve managed only single digit scoreboard performances.

The Rams take on Seattle on the road week 7. The Seahawks rank middle of the pack in all defensive categories (except points allowed where they rank 9th), typical of their bend-but-don’t-break philosophy.
