The Washington Redskins will be a hurting unit on offense Sunday without the support of Clinton Portis’ running game and Santana Moss’s receiving ability. Fortunately, Clinton Portis has declared himself ready to play.

“If I’m out there on Wednesday and Thursday, they ain’t got no choice but to let me out there on Sunday,” said Portis, who missed practice Monday but said his bruised and sprained right knee felt fine after a full workload yesterday. “It was limited [Wednesday], but today I ran full speed on numerous plays — run plays and pass plays — and it felt good.”

Unfortunately, Moss is still an uncertainty leaning toward doubtful after missing Thursday’s practice. You can bet that Portis enters the lineup Sunday against Detroit, but Moss might end up being a game time decision. And even then his reps could be limited. One thing that’s a concern is his lack of confidence that he’ll be ready.

“Dealing with something like this in the past, you just want to be 100 percent sure about it before you do it,” Moss said. “Until then, we’ll be waiting. I didn’t put no pads on. I didn’t have my cleats on today. I didn’t run no routes. Until I do pretty much all that stuff, then I can tell you more.”

The Detroit defense ranks 31st against the pass (267.5 yards), 17th against the run (114.2 yards), and 30th in points allowed (30.2 per game), though those numbers are a bit skewed since week 3’s collapse against the Eagles.
