According to a report in the Star-Ledger, Jets’ quarterback Chad Pennington isn’t confident he’ll be ready to play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. The source of the article is reportedly close to Pennington, though he or she wishes to remain anonymous because an official report is expected to be released by the club in the near future.
“Chad doesn’t think he could play this week,” the person said yesterday. “He said the ankle is really sore. He wants to play and he’s going to give it a try, but he doesn’t think he’s going to play.”
Pennington’s ankle injury came in the third quarter when he was sacked by New England’s Jarvis Green. His immediate replacement is Kellen Clemens who has 11 career pass attempts to his name. In relief duty Sunday, Clemens completed 5 of his 10 attempts for 35 yards, posting a quarterback rating of 58.3.
