Latest word on Glenn: may miss entire 2007 season

Terry Glenn

After a pair of conflicting reports showed up on the Dallas Cowboys’ official website, one declaring Terry Glenn may miss the entire 2007 season and another more hopeful that he will miss two weeks or so, it was a bit confusing to say the least. But ESPN’s Matt Mosley may have cleared things up today with his own report:

In the interest of clarity, Hashmarks has learned that the original version may have been more accurate. Late Thursday night, a member of the organization told me Glenn was indeed finished for the season, but that the Cowboys decided (a little too late) to hold off on making the announcement.

Whatever the case, you can definitely upgrade the status of both Jason Witten — the Cowboys appeared in preseason to be targeting their tight end more often and Glenn’s injury only cements Witten as an important role player in the offense — and Patrick Crayton, who will replace Glenn and be a big producer in points per reception (PPR) leagues.

As far as Glenn’s status, he may have a chance to play this season if he decides to opt for arthroscopic knee surgery rather than a microfracture procedure. The former will delay the inevitable and allow him to return to playing in a few weeks, but the other will likely end his career. Glenn, 33, will likely make his decision based on whether he feels he can keep playing football and perhaps finish the season.
