Greg Olsen training camp

Bears tight end Greg Olsen is optimistic about his recent knee injury, though he still won’t specify his condition for Chicago’s season opener Sunday.

“Everything is good, it’s just going to take a little time to get it back to full strength,” Olsen said. “But it’s nothing too serious. It’s just a matter of rehabbing it.”

Olsen also went on to say that he doesn’t have any “structural damage,” which could be translated to mean he won’t be out for an extended period of time. In fact, he doesn’t expect to be sidelined long. Unfortunately, it does little for fantasy owners who want to know his status this week.

At this point, Lovie Smith is calling it a game-time decision as to whether or not he’ll play the speedy tight end in the season opener at San Diego. The injury — a sprain — is traditionally considered a 2-4 week injury and Olsen might not see a lot of playing time week one.
