Byron Leftwich to be released or traded

The Jacksonville Jaguars are finally parting ways with Byron Leftwich. The once-hyped quarterback from the same draft class as Carson Palmer has been a disappointment in the NFL, mainly due to injuries which have set him back considerably.

Coach Del Rio made the announcement today in a press conference, saying that the team will either trade or release Leftwich (Atlanta?). David Garrard will start in his stead, but if last season is any sort of indication as to what we can expect this year, Garrard will be iffy as a fantasy quarterback. A decent QB2, you can probably find better production elsewhere.

I’ve seen dozens of Jags games over the past three seasons and Leftwich never seemed like a winner. He has talent but he’s not the guy taking a team to the next level. Is Garrard the answer? I don’t know but he does bring a little more to the table and he deserves the chance as the unquestioned starter for a full season.
If he’s not the man for the job then the Jags will know a year sooner and can make an adjustment this off-season, such as signing Daunte Culpepper say?
