Who’s Cleveland’s starting quarterback tonight? It’s 50-50. Literally.

In a bit of coaching genius (or eccentricity), Romeo Crennel has decided to start the winner or a coin toss at quarterback in tonight’s game.
“I think that’s the fairest way because no one knows who’s going to start ahead of time,” said Crennel. “They’ll both play the first half and alternate with the first team.”
A decent plan, for sure. A little bizarre perhaps, but I think I understand the concept: don’t tell either player — Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson — who is going to start (and make it completely random) so that each prepares for the game as if he’s going to start with the first team offense.
Unfortunately, it does little for fantasy owners in terms of giving us an idea of who will begin the season as the team’s starter. Frye was considered to have the edge based on experience among other factors, but Crennel’s plan has everything but destroyed that theory.
As far as Brady Quinn goes, he’ll probably only get to hand the ball off late in the game.
But Ken Dorsey, a quarterback who might not even make the team, will play the bulk of the second half.
“He deserves an opportunity to play,” said Crennel.
Crennel is taking his vendetta against Quinn — who missed time due to a hold out — as far as possible, apparently.
This is just one more reason fantasy owners should never — ever — listen to coaches or their preseason strategies.
