In continued hopes of boosting their receiving corps, the Oakland Raiders signed wide receiver Travis Taylor to an undisclosed contract Wednesday.
The deal comes shortly after the Raiders sent Randy Moss to the New England Patriots in exchange for a mid-late round draft choice. Taylor will join Jerry Porter and Ronald Curry as the three projected starting receivers, with both Porter and Curry at 1-2.
Taylor began his career in Baltimore, but he spent the past two seasons in Minnesota as the team’s leading receiver (he had 57 catches last season). A welcome addition to Oakland, Taylor will play a role in the team’s rebuilding process. Though he has never lived up to expectations, playing him as a number three wide receiver should work in the Raiders’ favor.
