It’s been a while — by Cincinnati standards — since we’ve seen a Bengals’ player run into troubles with the law, but linebacker A.J. Nicholson is setting the team’s reputation low once again.
Nicholson was charged with domestic assault Friday afternoon after allegedly punching a woman he lives with. He was one of nine players to be arrested since January of last year, and the second player to be charged this year.
Maybe the Bengals should consider changing their jerseys to something a little more jumpsuit-ish.
This comes shortly after commissioner Roger Goodell laid down the law by suspending Nicholson’s teammate Chris Henry eight games in 2007. Nicholson’s punishment is pending, though there is little doubt it will be more than a slap on the wrist.
