Green Bay rookie Brandon Jackson was shot down along with his request to join his team for mandatory minicamps.
You see, this weekend is the “2007 Reebok NFL Rookie Premier, presented by EA Sports.” In short, it’s the first time players are being photographed by Topps, Upper Deck, and other collectible player card companies.
When told about the weekend, Jackson respectfully declined and sent his request to the governing body of the NFL, the Management Council, asking if he could instead attend minicamp with his teammates.
The Management Council, in turn, bluntly said, No. Jackson was given an ultimatum, stay home or come to LA and get your picture taken. In fact, there’s no way around it; not even a fine he can pay.
“They literally locked him out of camp,” Jackson’s agent, Gary Wichard said. “The team is not allowed to have him. I think it’s ridiculous.”
