Washington players can breathe a sigh of relief, at least for now. Star safety (and Drew Rosenhaus represented) Sean Taylor has joined the team for voluntary workouts after missing the first week.

The safety’s teammates speculated last week that Taylor was absent because of contract issues. They believed that Rosenhaus was working out a new contract for Taylor, but was making little progress. Taylor disputed those comments on the team’s official website.

“No truth to that at all,” Taylor responded, when asked after the workout yesterday if he was upset about his contract. “I have a seven-year contract. I’ve played three years of that contract and I’m fine.”

Taylor originally signed a seven-year, $18 million deal after he was drafted and about $7.2 million guaranteed. Recent draftee LaRon Landry could earn $15 million in guaranteed money.

But at least he showed up, leaving only one other notable player absent: Shawn Springs. However, Springs reportedly told assistants Gregg Williams and Jerry Gray that he would arrive in about two weeks.
