Everyone wearing a cheesehead can breathe a sigh of relief. Contrary to some previous reports, Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre does not want to be traded. On the Packers’ official website, he acknowledged his anger with the Packers’ management but also admitted he wants to retire wearing Green and Gold.
“I was frustrated a couple weeks back when Randy Moss was traded to New England,” Favre said on the website. “I never wanted to be traded and I don’t want to be traded. I want to be in Green Bay. I want to finish my career as a Packer.”
This is great news for fans of the gunslinger, especially those who have a deep rooted passion for all things Lambeau. With Favre in town for another season the team will remain competitive and a contender, especially within a fairly weak and rebuilding division. Front runner Chicago will give the Packers trouble, but don’t be surprised if a balanced Green Bay is able to steal it from them or at least earn a wild card birth.
