Michael Vick, who vowed to clean up his image, has caught media attention for all the wrong reasons, yet again. Owner Arthur Blank is cautioning Vick in hopes he will clean up his act, saying he “could not have been more stern” in his conversation with the quarterback.
Blank and the Falcons franchise are also bracing for the worst case scenario: suspension.
What Goodell will do about it, I’m not sure, but he’s not going to take it lightly,” Blank said. “He’s got Michael on his radar, and I think he made that clear to Michael as well.”
Goodell has already handed out heavy suspensions to Pacman Jones and Chris Henry, though Vick might not be punished as severely as either of those two. However, if convicted of cruelty to animals (dog fighting), Vick could spend up to a year behind bars.
Atlanta could not have received more bleak news at this point in the offseason, especially after trading young prospect Matt Shaub to the Houston Texans. Joey Harrington would start in the absence of Vick, should he receive a (likely) suspension.
