Miami watches Quinn fall to 9th overall, then passes

With the 9th overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins have selected Ohio State wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. At this point in the draft Quinn was the biggest steal, but the Miami Dolphins obviously thought differently, drafting Ginn.

This is a surprising — and in my opinion, bad — pick for several reasons. The biggest is that the Dolphins already have a very good receiver in Chambers and the biggest position in doubt is quarterback. They are putting all their eggs in one basket, the 2007 season, by giving Kansas City all the leverage in the world in the trade for Trent Green.

Green won’t last much longer than next season, and if the Dolphins miss the playoffs, they won’t have a young quarterback next season. They will not be picking this high again — if they do, this will go down as one of the worst moves of the draft — so drafting a quarterback is that much more difficult.
