Detroit adds fourth first round receiver of past five years
With the second overall selection of the 2007 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have added Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Johnson is a once-in-a-decade type player who has been receiving the same kind of acclaim Reggie Bush was garnering last year. He has a phenomenal combination of size and speed that makes him a great deep threat.
According to sources, the biggest guy who made this deal happen was coordinator Mike Martz. He loves receivers and it’s of little surprise he took to liking Johnson. Expect a big season out of the Georgia Tech wide-out who will be playing side-by-side with Roy Williams.
Detroit just made their offense a whole lot scarier.
