MLive.com reports that a deal between second overall Detroit and fourth overall Tampa Bay could involve the Buccaneers trading defensive back Brian Kelly. MLive’s Tom Kowalski speculates that a trade would involve Tampa Bay’s number 4 pick in the first round, a second round pick, cornerback Brian Kelly and a later round pick.

Here’s why it works: Detroit has several targets, most notably Gaines Adams. If Oakland drafts Calvin Johnson, a deal probably will not happen; Tampa Bay’s number one target is the Georgia Tech wide-out; it he’s gone, chances are the deal is gone.

However, if the Raiders opt instead to draft quarterback JaMarcus Russell with the first overall pick, the Lions could trade with Tampa Bay and draft Adams. The Clemson defensive end is not expected to be taken third overall by the Browns, and the Lions would gain an experienced corner and a few other draft picks for essentially nothing. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, could draft the coveted wide receiver.

Stay tuned.
