New Orleans seems to like defensive end Charles Grant; enough so, in fact, that they have resigned him to a contract that will keep the 6 year veteran around for as long as seven more seasons. Jay Glazer reports that the contract is laced with incentives, including a “whopping” $20 million in bonuses — quite a contrast from the $650 thousand he made last season.
Grant, who has been with the team since being drafted in 2002, has never missed in a game in career. He was personally responsible for 49 tackles last season — 64 total (with assists) — and 6 sacks. His personal high for sacks in a season came in 2004 when he took the quarterback down 10.5 times. Incidentally, that was his personal best season for tackles — 65 solo, 78 total — and interceptions — 1.
