Kansas City spokesman Bob Moore is trying to dispel rumors that the Chiefs are trying to trade running back Larry Johnson. Evidently, no team has been given permission to speak with Johnson and the team has heard no offers.

“Anybody who is reporting it’s true is simply not telling the truth,” Moore said.

Well, somebody isn’t telling the truth. Either it is Moore or Scout.com and NFL.com lead reporter Adam Schefter. The latter reported on the original trade talks while Scout.com reported today that the Packers made an offer for the Pro Bowl running back.

The Chiefs may be trying to play dumb on the situation, so Larry Johnson and Chiefs’ fans can feel more at ease regarding the situation. It isn’t often, after all, that Schefter and Scout.com are both wrong.

Stay tuned.
