Look out Mel Kiper Jr., here comes Keyshawn Johnson. According to a report, Johnson is ready to move beyond the confines of playing football. Reportedly, Johnson would like to a general manager of a team someday, and he’ll be getting some analysis experience when he sits with other ESPN “experts” to break down each team’s pick.

His emphasis? Not surprisingly, wide receivers and defensive backs. Johnson was a solid NFL wide receiver for 11 seasons, clashing with head coaches with an attitude that inspired a book — Just Give Me the Damn Ball! – and his notorious nickname, “Me-Shawn.” Jon Gruden once sent the wide receiver home, 10 games into the season, for the remainder of Tampa Bay’s 2003 campaign.

He never did understand why he was disliked, however, stating in an interview once, “If you have a problem with Keyshawn Johnson, you have a problem with yourself. You should seek counseling. To dislike me . . . there has to be something wrong with you.

And, unfortunately, the last time he was in a broadcast booth he drew further criticism when he called former teammate Ronde Barber an “Uncle Tom.”

Now he’ll sit behind a desk with personalities Kiper Jr., Chris Berman, and Tom Jackson. His knowledge of the game may be vast, but don’t be surprised if his personality draws some criticisms.
