Turner not likely not be traded to Buffalo

Michael TurnerThe Democrat and Chronicle reports that a trade between Buffalo and San Diego for Michael Turner is not likely to happen because of “complexities.”

“There’s nothing new to report right now,” Bills GM Marv Levy said during a luncheon with reporters at Ralph Wilson Stadium discussing next weekend’s NFL draft. “There are so many complexities to the deal, that if it’s done, I’ve got to tell you, it would be a surprise.”

The Bills have been looking for a running back ever since losing starter Willis McGahee to Baltimore earlier this offseason. They have no suitable replacement for McGahee and the only other available player worthy of a starting role at this point is Corey Dillon. Dillon, who turns 33 this year, might not be able to carry the load of a starter for an entire season. His style of running is that of a bruiser, and he lacks outside speed.

Looking to the draft, it seems more and more likely that Buffalo will opt instead to draft running back Marshawn Lynch. Considered by many to be the second best runner in the draft, Lynch is a good prospect unlikely to be taken before the Bills are on the clock at 12th overall. Two other teams interested in Lynch are the Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans who draft 16th and 19th overall, respectively.
