Rotoworld.com reports that Will Shields is calling it quits, according to his official website. It’s no real surprise, but still it does not help the Kansas City offense. The Chiefs struggled last year because of conservatism. How Herm Edwards will respond to losing his best lineman will be interesting, though perhaps disastrous.

Larry Johnson will most feel Shields’ absence, and fantasy owners would be wise to consider that. Withdrawal from losing a right guard of Shields caliber, a player who has not missed a game in his entire career (!), will certainly be a painful process.
