Rumor says Favre is “100% certain” Moss will be Packer in ‘07
This rumor comes from ProFootballTalk.com’s “Rumor Mill” page, so be certain to take it with a grain of salt. That said, it is a juicy rumor, one with potential.
A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that Packers quarterback Brett Favre is “100 percent certain” that Moss will be a Packer by the time the 2007 season starts.
The only problem is that the Raiders and the Packers haven’t been able to strike a deal for compensation.
The deal sounds doable, but there may be another thing holding the deal back, not just compensation.
Green Bay played against Moss twice each season (sometimes 3 if the two faced in the postseason), and the “mooning” incident which enraged FOX’s Joe Buck certainly didn’t make Packers fans feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Management knows this, and it is fair to assume that it is also a reason the deal has yet been made.
But Moss is now a couple years removed from his Minnesota setting, making it possible that fans can now grow to at least stand him. And fans may be a little more forgiving after the reports that Brett Favre wants this deal to happen. If he objected, Packer-nation would object. But his go-ahead seems to have more influence over the community of cheeseheads than a Presidential declaration would.
Keep an eye on this rumor, as it still holds potential. After all, there were talks earlier this offseason that a trade could happen, so PFT is not totally out of reach with this rumor.
