Dream come true

Full story at Coshocton Tribune:

Just when it seemed another door had closed for him, a former Heath resident learned his NFL dream would come true.

Jim Davis, 43, who now lives in Maine, received word that he will be flown to California for a tryout with the San Francisco 49ers later this month.

Davis was a contestant on the ABC game show “The Great American Dream Vote.” His dream was the be the oldest rookie in the NFL, and he made it to the finals. He was to have found out if he won the vote, and thus the tryout, during an episode scheduled to air today, but the show is now on hiatus.

In an NFL offseason filled with stories of Pacman Jones exploits, it’s nice to hear a 43 year old man’s dream about to come true.

Not that he’ll make the squad — he never played ball in high school or college, though the article does state that Davis is in “prime condition” — but he’s getting a shot at accomplishing something others have dreamed about throughout their lives. He’s actually “living the dream” for every middle-aged American who has watched a game on Sunday and thought, Hey, I can do that!

Congratulations, Jim. And good luck.
